What to Wear to (Work) the Met Gala
A styling guide for PR professionals working fashion’s biggest night—black, formal, and tailored to impress.
Tomorrow is the first Monday of May, which means it’s fashion’s biggest night: the Met Gala. This year, the theme—shared with the spring exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute—is “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.”
It’s the first Met Gala exhibit in over 20 years to focus exclusively on menswear, specifically Black style. And it’s also the first Met Gala I’ll be working—not the gala itself, but the VIP departures from The Mark Hotel, famously where all the celebrities get ready for the event.
Given that, and as a continuation of my previous post “Shades of (PR) Black,” a handbook on how to dress as a PR during Fashion Month, on today’s newsletter I’m sharing styling ideas for working the Met Gala.
